76-year old Roseanna Zadakaus vanished four months ago from her Perry County home.
Zadakaus’s brother, Tom Joseph, describes his sister as a homebody, someone that lives a simple life and doesn’t have any enemies.
“Her neighbor, an older gentleman, she was supposed to take him to the doctor. He went and knocked on her front door and she didn’t answer,” Joseph said. “He touched the door and it was ajar and it opened.”
Described by her brother, Tom Joseph, as a "homebody", someone who lives simply and doesn't have an enemy in the world, said he doesn't hold much hope at this point. She lost her husband in November of 2020, had no children and lived alone.
Ms. Zadakaus was supposed to take a neighbor to a doctor appointment. When it came time to leave for the appointment, the neighbor went to knock on her door and it opened on its own. In addition, there were things that looked out of place. Being a creature of habit, she always made her bed first thing and it was unmade, the TV was on, and her purse was missing. In addition, she always used the side to enter the garage or carport. Joseph said, with the front door being ajar is definitely out of her normal routine.
Was it a home invasion and murder? No one is ready to go that far, but Sheriff Weems said it sure looks like that could be what happened.
All the resources at the hand of the Sheriff's Office at both the local and the state level have been directed in this search. Now they are waiting for results of testing of some evidence from the residence. The Perry County Sheriff’s Office is also now offering a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest or Mrs. Zadakaus whereabouts.
