Day 15 Search update:
During the 15 days of this search we have had so many people come and assist. I want to say thank you to all. The THP aviation flew four different days and has volunteered once again. We have had 8 different county Rescue Squads and Fire Departments joining us on the search , as well as 5 different K-9’s. TBI sent an agent for an assist and sent us their crime scene techs.
We have met an amazing group of divers from TN City and Henderson County, who came out numerous days. It was swift and dangerous water, so I can not say enough how much we appreciate them.
We have deployed some of the best technology available with side scanning sonar, aerial drones, an underwater drone, a tracking dog, and multiple neighborhood canvasses.
On the investigative side we have our team making calls, talking with family, friends and neighbors, while chasing leads and working tips called in.
I want to thank all my staff for the work they are putting in. Many long hours for both the search crews and investigators. I personally have seen an amazing team effort with help from all across the state.
As Sheriff, I personally feel that while working alongside EMA Director Gary Rogers, we have exhausted numerous efforts to find Ms. Zadakaus. Now that the high water has receded, I would like to ask the community to assist us in the effort to clear the once flooded area. We want to know that that no stone was left unturned around her home that was flooded.
This Sunday at 1:00pm I plan to make this happen. Any Perry County resident that is interested, should bring proper apparel such as rubber boots, hip waders, bright clothing, bug spray and a fully charged cell phone for communications.
For those that have boats and would like to assist in the continued search of the river, we welcome that as well. You may put in at Mousetail or Perryville Marina.
The areas of focus will be from Marsh Creek to Lady Finger Bluff. Look alongside the riverbanks, up in the creek channels and of course the open river channel.
Ground searchers will need to meet at Drop Anchor RV Park/Rameys Landing on Cypress Creek Road to receive their assignment. A briefing will be conducted before the search begins.
We will also be setting up an anonymous tip hotline dedicated to the efforts of bringing Roseanna Zadakaus home. That number should be complete very soon and we will be putting that out as soon as its available.
In the meantime, we ask that our citizens be vigilant in keeping their eyes and ears open for anything that may help in our efforts.
Again, thank you ALL again for the tremendous help in this. Perry County appreciates all that you have done.
See you guys Sunday, 1:00pm Rameys Landing. Please say a prayer that our search is successful.
Sheriff Nick Weems.
